So I just got back from an intramural volleyball game and thought it would be something worth writing about tonight. I'm going to be real honest, right here, right now: I am the biggest sore loser ever. I hate losing. For this reason, I rarely compete in anything unless I know I have a good chance of winning (don't judge me). Does anyone else do that? Please say yes.
The thing is, I'm really good at being calm and relaxed in almost every scenario but once you put me on a court and give me a ball, things tend to change. I hate losing and then having to say "good game" afterwards to my opponents. I would much rather eat the manure that was spread out on campus, but they've already put turf down.
I probably sound like the worst person ever right now but there's a bright side to this entry. After losing tonight's game, I realized how much fun I had. I know it sounds super lame but it's true! You have to understand that prior to the intramural season, I only knew two of the ten people on my team (Team Awesome. Yes, that's our team name). If I did the math right, that means I just made eight new friends. Wahoo! I even got a few words of encouragement from the director of intramural sports, Chris Hofschroer, who happens to be a good "friend" of mine (Chris, if you're reading this, I want my money back. The ref didn't help us at all tonight).
You might be asking yourself, "Andy, what did you learn after tonight's loss?" I would simply respond by saying that it's my parents fault that I didn't learn how to lose. Just kidding. I learned that losing is as terrible as ever but it's not as bad after you sit down and write a blog about it.
Till next time.
