"Home" For The Holidays (By: Kolin Kraning)

I can’t believe Thanksgiving break is already over…

I feel like every day that I have been away from school has been so long – time has moved by so slowly – but the final day of the break came out of nowhere! I do not fully understand why, but I am excited to go back to school. I truly do enjoy being on campus; this is why…

First, don’t get me wrong, I absolutely loved my time at home: I got to see my cousins, aunts and uncles, grandparents, AND even my brother’s puppy Leo (who is quite possibly the best dog ever). I loved watching the football games with my family (aside from the Jonas Brothers horrific half-time performance).

I LOVED THE FOOD

How couldn’t I? I mean, who doesn’t love eating a bunch of Tryptophan (an amino acid in turkey that has been proven to make you tired) and then passing out, a victim to what I like to call a “food coma”. I absolutely love it!

Being home during the break was nice. I got to work at Forest Home Family Camp for the weekend. It was nice having a time away from cell phone service and internet, a good break from the hustle-n-bustle of everyday life.

Hanging out with the Forest Home staff was great; I have some great friends in that group of people. Yet, I was still SOOO excited to come back to school.

I realize more and more every day how much I love this community, and how great the friends that I have made here are. They say “absence makes the heart grow fonder”, and it is so true, even when talking about school and friends.

I am so blessed to be here and be a part of this school, and I thank God every day for the opportunity I have to be here. I truly feel at home here, and it is no longer strange to refer to a dormitory as my home. So there you have it, this is my home now, and these people are now a part of my family!
