The Visit (By: Tessa Johnstone)

My family came to CBU last weekend. <3

It was great the have the whole family together… my mom, my dad, my brother, my sister… If only we had a dog, we would be the perfect family.

I got to show them my oh-so-attractive apartment.
Jess (my roommate) and I decorated a few weeks ago.

I also got to show them all the places on campus that I like to go when I want to hide away from the world. If you ask really nice or slip me a Benjamin, I might just show them to you too.

Every week I always have three or four meals left over, so I was glad to have some legit family to scan into the cafeteria. We ate outside – because outside eating is the best. So fresh.

Except for right now...
they are spreading fertilizer or something to grow the grass . . .
not so fresh.

It’s nice to be around people with whom you can say whatever it is that you feel compelled to say (no matter how raw) or belt out whatever song you feel like singing (no matter how ridiculous) or dance however your feet inspire you (no matter how goofy) and know that, despite all the crazy that you are, they will still love you…… and probably even like you.
That is the family that I love.
And I can tell that,

of all the friendships I am forming here,
the ones which contain that element of
freedom from self consciousness
are the ones which will last and flourish.

I’ve been playing a lot of ping pong in the game room.

That is all.
