Art & Church (By: Tessa Johnstone)

My class put on a student ARt competition. We held the show last week. Holy cow, it was fun. Apparently we have A LOT of talented people at this school.. who knew? We weren’t going to get our hopes up and expect a ton of entries – however, we ended up with over 150 pieces. (I wonder if that had anything to do with the fact that there were cash prizes). There were five winners, two first and second place in the categories of traditional and media, and then a best of show. Check it out, baby…

(pictures coming soon...)

I am really enjoying my church, Norco First Baptist. (And by enjoying I mean, “being challenged every week by…” and “receiving an abundance of opportunities to gain understanding from…”)

I’m excited about the opportunity to do missions next summer with them.
CBU has a ministry called International service projects (ISP). The ministry sends students all around the world helping people and spreading the gospel. Last year they sent 35 teams to 21 different countries. This year the ISP Turkey trip is being adopted by Norco and will hopefully be made up of a lot of Norco students. I’ll be pretty stoked if that is something that God wants me to be a part of.

God’s timing is
perfect. He gives me the desires of my heart that I did not even know were the desires of my heart. He aligns my purpose with his own. He gives me an abundance of love for his people. I receive unattainable things out of his incredible mercy and compassion. Accepting them is difficult for me, given my depravity, but I know that there is no other option. And so I receive them humbly and gratefully.
SO gratefully.
