where to start... (By: Andy Mok)

I’m just going to be really honest right from the start. I act like I’m new to this blogging thing but in fact, I started blogging back in high school (xanga.com). It wasn’t as common of a hobby as it is today but nevertheless, I pretty much owned it. I guess you can sort of call me a pro but I’ll be modest and move on.

I’m not exactly sure how I got the privilege of writing blogs for our school but I’m super excited and thankful. I was happy enough that I got to do a video for our website but this might be just a tad bit cooler.

Is it weird though that I’m totally nervous about this? It doesn’t help that I just read some of my co-blogger’s entries and they all rock my face off. I’ve been sitting here for the past twenty minutes listening to my roommate’s lame music, trying to think of something funny and/or entertaining to write but I’m realizing again that you can’t force it (I have to re-learn that lesson every so often. Sorry. I don’t do the whole learning thing very well). You know what else you can’t force? Good writing. I’m pretty sure my writing skills haven’t improved since I was 14. In addition, I’ve never been the most philosophical or poetic person so I don’t know why I’m trying to be that right now. If anything, the friends that I have today are my friends because I’m not either one of those things. Sorry, I don’t know where I’m going with this. New paragraph (You’re allowed to do this in the blogging world).

Anyways, I’ll move on to this week’s topic.

We all finished our first full week of the Fall ’08 semester here at California Baptist University. It’s kind of weird for me because this is actually the last semester of my college career. Yup, that’s right. I know I may come off as youthful and as vibrant as the new freshmen but in fact, I’m basically done. Please don’t cry too much. We still have a solid 3 months to go. But hey, I’m not going to lie, I’m excited. Real excited. I’m currently a FOCUS leader (Group G, yay-yuh), I have the best friends that I could possibly ask for, my sister transferred here so I can see her more often, I finally got TWIRPed, and I’ve got a mere 12 units worth of classes. Life is going to be pretty good for the next few months. I like it here… uh lot. I hope you guys do too. If not, tell me why and I’ll fix it… unless it has something to do with the cafeteria and the 9 billion people in it during lunch time. Sorry. But who wants to go Chipotle?
